Ms. Alexis Cortez, 2nd Grade

SFUSD K-5 Public Elementary School

I have been living in San Francisco for almost 8 years now, and I am from Chicago. I have one brother who lives in Chicago and is an Illinois State Police officer. I go home a of couple times a year and my family comes out to visit once a year. I talk to my parents everyday on the phone!
I received my bachelor’s in Child & Adolescent development with a minor in Special Education in 2016. I just earned my master’s in elementary education, and I am about to receive my multiple-subjects credential; all from San Francisco State University. I have student taught at Tenderloin Community School and Yick Wo Elementary. I have experience in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Fifth grade.
I love to travel and some of my favorite places I have been are Mexico, Hawaii, and Jamaica. I hike all over the city with my fiancé, one of my favorite walks are from the Golden Gate Bridge, all the way to Ocean Beach! Fort Mason Community Garden is one of my most favorite places to go in the city. I love to write rhymes and rap them to my fiancé’s beatboxing. I also love watching dogs at the park.
I look forward to learning from and teaching the students at Commodore Sloat!
