Parents’ Club Organization (PCO)

What is the PCO? Where some schools have a PTA or a PTSA, Sloat has a PCO or Parents’ Club Organization. The Commodore Sloat Parents’ Club Organization (PCO) is a non-profit, collaborative organization comprised of Commodore Sloat parents and guardians as well as Commodore Sloat teaching faculty and our principal. One of our primary goals is to raise money to supplement the programming and enrichment activities provided by the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) to further support and enhance the community and educational experiences of our children and families. We also create countless opportunities for Sloat Families to build connections and friendships with each other and with our school faculty and staff. 

All Commodore Sloat parents and guardians are members of our Commodore Sloat Parents’ Club Organization (PCO) and we invite you to build on that membership in any and all ways that you might enjoy. Throughout your time at Commodore Sloat School, there will be many opportunities to participate at the PCO Executive Board level, eliciting family needs to prioritize spending, facilitate fundraising, organize volunteer objectives, and implement engaging programming for our community. There will also be many rewarding opportunities to volunteer your time in the classroom, to participate on programming-focused committees, and to assist with school activities and events. These are the occasions that make our school community one of the best places to nurture and educate our children.

The Commodore Sloat Parents’ Club Organization is run by an all parent volunteer executive board which also oversees several committees serving various purposes. The Executive Board meets virtually every third Thursday at 6:15pm and all community members are welcome to attend. Meeting minutes are posted via our intra-school communication tool ParentSquare and are also available in print upon request.

The Commodore Sloat Parents’ Club Organization is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and as such most donations are tax deductible. Please check out the links under the Support Sloat header on our website for more information on the various ways you can support the School via PCO programs.
