The Welcome Committee is excited to invite you to our upcoming school events. We look forward to meeting you and are happy to help answer questions. All events are hosted at Commodore Sloat School, 50 Darien Way, at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard in San Francisco. Enter through Darien Way.
| April 27, 2025 | Rainbow-A-Fair 11:00am – 3:00pm Join us for one of our biggest fundraising events the Parents’ Club organizes to help pay for our students’ academic enrichments. The Rainbow-A-Fair is a huge carnival with games and prizes, delicious eats, music and raffle. Tickets/Wristbands will be available for purchase in advance or at the event. |
| May 4, 2025 | Green Up Clean Up 10:00am – 2:00pm Where: Upper Yard / Learning Garden Please join our school families to help take care of our outdoor areas. Kids are welcome. Typical tasks include – tend to the edible garden, pull weeds, add mulch. Gardening gloves and tools provided. |
| May 9, 2025 | Coffee Gathering 8:30am – 9:30am Where: Lobby Entrance or Upper Yard Amphitheater Please join our monthly coffee gathering to connect with Dr. Abdolcader and Sloat families. |
| May 16, 2025 | Kindergarten Assessment Meeting all the children allows us to create well balanced classrooms that are diverse culturally and academically. You and your child will meet the kindergarten teachers, and some other incoming students! Knowing the people at school will help your child feel more comfortable right away and help the first day of school go smoothly. Look for future emails for sign up times. |

| June 7, 2025 July 12, 2025 | New Student Playdate 10:00am – 12:00pm Where: Lower Yard near the Tire Garden Join us for a playdate to meet new Sloat families. The Welcome Committee will be there to say hello and answer questions. Note the school is closed and there are no restrooms available. |
| August 15, 2025 | Kindergarten Orientation and Playdate 2:00pm – 4:00pm Look for more information from Dr. Abdolcader during the summer. |
| August 18, 2025 | First day of 2025-26 school year Join the Welcome Committee for coffee and a light breakfast. |
About Commodore Sloat
Commodore Sloat Elementary School is located at 50 Darien Way, at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard in San Francisco. The campus features three full playgrounds and expansive gardens, sports blacktop with basketball hoops and tree-lined meditation spaces. There is a fruit orchard and edible teaching garden. The building has four wings, “A pod” through “D pod” and main building with staff offices, multi-purpose lunch room, outdoor picnic tables, and a massive dedicated auditorium with proscenium stage and piano.
