INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS WEEK Dec 1-5th

We are looking forward to Inclusive Schools Week, an international celebration of inclusive schools.

SINGING FOR TOYS – TOY DRIVE + CONCERT WITH OUR KIDS

Barrels will be in the lobby to collect NEW, UNWRAPPED toys for any age or gender. Singing for Toys is sponsored by the SFUSD Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Dept. and all toys collected will be donated to the SF Fire Dept. for distribution to children in need during the holidays. The “Singing for Toys” toy drive will culminate with a concert on December 8th at 6:30pm at the Scottish Rite Temple, featuring our own Sloat Singers.

ANCHOR ENRICHMENTS

  • Chess Match with Miraloma After School on 12/5 3-4pm
  • Session 3 registration will begin 12/3. Chess Spring Session registration will be included in the Session 3 registration, on 12/3.

ANCHOR AFTER SCHOOL

  • 1st Annual Family Campaign Night 12/12 5-6:30
    We are fundraising $300 for Stonestown Y’s Annual Campaign. Admission to the ’80s-themed Dance Night is free. We will be collecting donations and selling raffle packages to YMCA Day Camps. Check the link to donate! http://www.ymcasf.org/donate?kwoAdvocateId=EZCFE73

    On Friday, 12/5, Sports Basement on Bryant St. Shopping/Movie Night 5-8 pm. Come stock up on cold-weather gear and gifts! The kids can watch a family-friendly movie while you shop. You get 10% off your purchase and another 10% goes to Sloat. Light snacks and alcohol will be on hand for even more holiday cheer! Please share with family & friends, too! Please note – ANYTIME you shop at this location — at checkout mention Commodore Sloat and receive a 10% discount and 5% donation back to Sloat. Please thank them for supporting our school.

  • Mini Craft Sale at Sloat Our third and final holiday gift fundraiser will take place on Fri. Dec 12th from 2:30-4:30pm on the upper yard at Sloat, where Sloat parents Sarah Wentker and Susan Gregory will hold a mini-sale featuring their handmade earrings (Sarah) and ceramics (Susan). In the meantime, you can check out these talented ladies’ websites at www.wentker.com and www.ceramicscg.com, and can purchase Susan’s ceramics online in advance of the mini-sale using the code SLOATSHARE. In addition, Sarah will be hosting a Holiday Open Studio at her home on Sunday, December 14 from 3-7pm (see (http://wentker.com/openstudio.html) where her entire collection of jewelry will be available to purchase. Sarah and Susan have generously offered to donate 25% of all sales to our community back to Sloat.

COMMODORE SLOAT AUCTION – March 7, 2015 6 –10pm

How you can help: Please solicit donations from businesses you frequent. Visit our website for forms, sample letters & ideas + other ways you can get involved. We need volunteers to help manage tangible gift donations, intangible donation intake, check out manager, fiscal manager, and a floor manager to oversee set up. Drop off any donated items with forms to Sau Wei in the school office.

BOX TOPS – Keep collecting

We will collect box tops again in February, so please keep saving them!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

LOST AND FOUND REMINDER

All items not picked up from the Lost and Found rack located next to the front lobby will be donated to the Bayview Mission at the end of each month. Please take a look before your items are gone!
