Enrichment Classes

Enrichment sigu up is over. Families will be notified Wednesday, Sept. 3 for additional payment and Program Membership forms. Enrichment rosters will be posted in the Auditorium at Anchor Sign out, outside the Auditorium and in the front of the school’s Main Doors on tomorrow – Thursday, Sept. 4.

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING! Mon. Sept 8th – Fri. Sept. 12th

On either Monday or Tuesday, your child will attend the book fair with their class and get a first look at the available books. They will come home with their chosen “Wish List” and a register printout showing the cost of the books on their wish list. If you choose to buy the books on your child’s wish list (or any other books of your choosing), you can send a check or cash with your child back to school. Even better, you can come shopping with your child any day after school or at Back to School Night, next Wednesday, September 10th. 50% of purchases are given back to benefit the Sloat library!

At the Book Fair you can also help your child’s classroom by buying books from their teacher’s Classroom Wish List. Simply select one or more Book Wish List Donation Cards from the Wish List Display in the Library. The titles are hand picked by each teacher and the books are set aside for you to purchase. We need helpers during Book Fair Week! Please check out sign up genius link if you are available to help.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT – one week from today!

Please join us for Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 10th from 5:30-8:00pm.

Back-to-School Night Schedule
5:30-6:15pm – Dinner in the Cafeteria
6:00-6:30pm – Special education/parent resource group open house – Resource Room
6:30-6:50pm – General meeting in the Auditorium
7:00-7:20pm – Classroom visit #1 (4th & 5th grade classes will meet during this rotation; both teachers from each grade will be presenting together)
7:25-7:45pm – Classroom visit #2 (for those with more than one class to visit)

Free childcare will be available to current Sloat students only. This year we will not provide childcare for toddlers and younger siblings. Space is quite limited so please reserve your spot by emailing or calling the office at 415-759-2807 as soon as possible. The deadline to reserve a spot is Monday, 9/8 or as soon as spaces are filled.

Thanks to all families that have sent in supplies and/or contacted me about volunteering–it’s great to be a part of such an active parent community! If you haven’t already, please send in cardboard boxes (from cereal, granola bars, graham crackers, etc.) for a project we will be doing next week, as we still need a lot more. You can drop them off in the greenhouse behind the shed in the C Pod. If you have a truck and would be willing to help us transport straw bales to make a comfortable classroom area in the edible garden, please contact Adalyn. We’re also looking for parents to help with watering to help keep our beautiful campus green–email if you’re interested.

STUDENT CROSSING GUARDS during drop-off and pick-up

Once again, we have student crossing guards participating in supporting morning and after school traffic safety on Darien Way and San Fernando Street. The program will be open to 5th grade students, with adult supervision. Students will once again receive thorough training from Officer Edie Lewis and Officer Jeff Levin so that they know exactly what to do and how to promote safety while also keeping themselves safe. Thank you to our parent supervisors – Min Su and DiDi Wong!

Additional volunteer jobs will be posted as the event gets closer! Please contact for more information.

Library Help – Our school librarian, Ms Boyd, needs your help. Volunteers are needed during weekly class visits to help with book check-in, shelving, assisting students with online searches, and helping with check-out.
